- Supermodel Style -
Tonight, I watched the second episode of Fashion Star to see if my favorites would sell their latest designs to H&M, Saks, or Macy’s. Instead of any one item grabbing my attention (other than Orly Shani’s convertible maxi skirt - AMAZING!), I found myself, from the beginning, trying to figure out who made Elle MacPherson’s top. The supermodel/designer rocked a great slim pleat front navy trouser with a sequin top and strappy platform heel. After searching and searching to no avail, I found a top similar to what Elle wore from Vince. I’m still on the hunt for the exact shirt, but this will do in the meantime. For the look I put together mimicking Elle’s, I added a little color in the mint shoulder bag to the classy dressed up look. Pink or yellow or another pastel would look great, too, but we all know my current obsession with mint/pistachio hues…
For fun, I created looks using the same slim pleat front trouser for both a casual day out-and-about as well as work. A pretty lace blouse softens the casual ensemble with bright flats and accessories for a little fun. And, a bold blouse under a neutral blazer with another pop of color in the handbag creates a fun, but work appropriate look you can wear for drinks after your long day at the office.
Pleats are making a come back, and in the right fit, a pleat front trouser can be a great basic for spring and summer. If worn too snuggly, pleats can make your lower torso look puffy, so be mindful and find the pair that lays well on your frame.
