Southern Chic Style

- Dressing Up a Printed Tee -

Sometimes a girl just wants to wear a t-shirt and jeans! That’s how I felt when putting together this look. A Saturday event with All the Wire jewelry and Courtney Kerr from “Courtney Loves Dallas” after a morning run and lounging around the house called for an easy ensemble. I’d just been to Atrium Ready to Wear's sale and found the printed Prabal Gurung tee for a steal! So, like most girls with a new piece of clothing, I wanted to wear it. Add distressed jeans, a comfortable pump, and cropped jacket with a clutch and you have a stylish, easy look.

You can replicate the style with your own printed tee, a skinny jean, and a blazer, leather jacket, or cropped jacket… You’re likely to have pieces in your closet to pull together an easy outfit. Perfect for a beautiful, breezy spring day!

Shop a few printed tees to add to your closet:

 - Jimmy Choo & Atrium Support Heroes for Children -

At a lovely event held at the Jimmy Choo store in the Houston Galleria, models showed off ready-to-wear looks from Atrium RTW (including Prabal Gurung and Jason Wu) with shoes and handbags from Jimmy Choo to support Heroes for Children. The organization provides financial and social assistance to families, within the state of Texas, with children (ages 0-22) battling cancer. Proceeds from sales that night went to Heroes for Children and their worthy mission.

For the occasion, I pulled out a go-to black dolman dress with a pair of Jimmy Choo’s I’d recently found, a statment necklace from Bevello Boutique, and a pewter clutch to compliment the silver sandal. Don’t you just love those basics that  you can dress up with accessories? A black dress can go so far in your wardrobe! I couldn’t help but admire the beautiful shoes that surrounded us while Monica of Classy & Fabulous and I tried on sunglasses, enjoyed some bubbly, and visited with the fabulous ladies in attendance. The pump in the second to last photo above (black and python) was one of my favorites at the store!

- Falling for Fall 2012 -

And, I certainly am. The photos here are only a portion of the MANY looks I love so far from the Fall 2012 collections. The jewel tones are seen throughout with teal being dominate… more of the classic black and white, lots and lots of prints, sheer panels and cutouts, powder blue, and accessories galore.

Pictured first above is a look from 3.1 by Phillip Lim - maroon skinny pants with a front slit. A different look for the skinny pant, Phillip Lim wasn’t the only designer to incorporate this style.

In the second photo, this Alice + Olivia look is completed by the infinity scarf/shawl. It can be added to so many outfits for a new look. Scarves were also on display at Marc Jacobs this week. Photos of some of those looks to come in another post.

The third look (top right) is a beautiful blue Carlos Miele dress with boots that I absolutely adore! Almost all of the models rocked these boots in either this nude shade or black. LOVE them. And, notice the shredded detail on the front of the dress giving a simple frock some edge.

The next two gowns are Carlos Miele and Carolina Herrera. Gorgeous gowns in Fall prints.

The teal blazer is a look from the runway of Catherine Malandrino. The leather lapel dresses it up, and paired with the printed skirt provides the perfect fall look for work or dinner and drinks with the girls.

Diane von Furstenberg wowed me with look after look that I want for my own. The maroon off the shoulder long sleeved dress pictured above is just one of the classy, elegant pieces from this week’s showing in New York. I have plenty more to share with you from DVF’s collection.

The last two photos are both from backstage - eyes at Prabal Gurung and hair at Tracy Reese. The electric blue eyes are inspired by birds of paradise. A nest-like twist was a hairstyle of choice to incorporate a ”bird” theme at Tracy Reese.

Quite a collage of Fall 2012 fashions, but I couldn’t help myself. It’s only a portion of what’s already walked the runway and there’s still 3 more days of New York Fashion Week left! More of my favorites and standouts to come!

** Erin Fetherston, Jenny Packham, Skaist-Taylor, Thakoon, The Row, Victoria Beckham, Zac Posen, and more Fall 2012 runway looks in my arsenal.

RESORT ON MY RADAR

With New Years Eve only 4 days away, I’ve found myself pouring over sparkly dresses looking for just the right one. As I was perusing Intermix online, I came across their Resort 2012 section. The bright colors grabbed my attention, and the rest of my night was spent looking through Resort collection after collection on Style.com. They were full of yellows, greens, blues, white and black, orange, pink, and fun patterns. Of his collection, Yigal Azrouel was quoted saying “I was inspired by color this season.” I found myself smiling as I clicked through the runway looks from designers like Valentino, Alexander McQueen, Yves Saint Laurent, Alice + Olivia, Chloe, Jason Wu, Peter Som, and on and on. The vivid colors and patterns just seemed to make me… happy! I guess I was ready for some more color in the wardrobes of people I see on a daily basis and didn’t realize it. To see more of the Resort 2012 looks I loved, click here and log-in to style.com for my lookbook.
